Lydia Jane comes from humble beginnings, growing up in White Plains, NY. She started playing the piano at 7, having weekly lessons until she was 15. It wasn't until Lydia came to White Plains High School that she would suddenly find her calling. She joined the singer/songwriters club and experimented with her sound. This club then transformed her to the pure, raw talent and skill that she has today; and will develop for the future.
Lydia Jane since high school has been accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, studied at Purchase College and attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC. Lydia has performed at various local venues in White Plains, as well as showcases in NYC such as Jazz at Lincoln Center and Sounds of Brazil. These shows are proof of Lydia's style range from old sound Jazz to contemporary works and how she can, at will, effortlessly blend them together.
Many people will notice that Lydia has a "turtle in the sky" as her logo. What they don't understand is the meaning behind it. Lydia feels as though she is a "turtle in the sky" trying to be comfortable in her own shell while reaching new heights. When you listen to her music, she wants you to be inspired to be comfortable with who you are, reach high for the sky and become everything you ever dreamed of being.
